Hibiscus Carnation Red (3 Gal)

$28.00

Hibiscus Carnation Red (Tropical Hibiscus)

Produces "double" blooms. These flowers have extra layers of petals, giving them a ruffled, voluminous look that closely mimics a large carnation.

The "double" or carnation-style hibiscus is a tropical evergreen shrub. Unlike the classic flat-faced hibiscus with a prominent central stamen, these varieties feature:

  • Layered Petals: A dense center of petals that obscures the nectar tube.

  • Glossy Foliage: Deep green, serrated leaves that provide a high-contrast backdrop for the blooms.

Requirements

Light Full sun is best (6–8 hours). In extremely hot climates, some afternoon shade prevents petal scorch.

WateringKeep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. They are thirsty plants, especially in containers.

TemperatureThey love heat. They are not frost-tolerant and should be moved indoors if temps drop below 40F

Soil Well-draining, slightly acidic potting mix with plenty of organic matter.

FertilizerUse a high-potassium fertilizer (the "K" in N-P-K) during the growing season to encourage those heavy double blooms.
